WELCOMING

Dearest Friends,

What a month March has been!!! As I reflect, it’s impossible for me not to highlight the sad events in Ukraine. My heart breaks over the needless violence, bloodshed, and devastation. However, one encouraging aspect is how rapidly businesses have responded to the crisis – coming together in a rare show of solidarity and strength across the world – and going beyond government-imposed sanctions. This is ESG/S alive in our world and in business! While examples of businesses standing up to the Russian threat on democracy are far too many to list, here are just that caught my eye:

  1. Airbnb freeing up housing for 100,00 Ukrainian refugees.
  2. Oil companies – Exxon, BP, and Shell, ending multiple joint investment projections with Russian oil companies.
  3. Global retailers shutting down Russian sales and closing stores.
  4. Major credit card companies – Visa and Mastercard – shutting down global services in Russia.
  5. Professional services firms like Accenture, KPMG, and PwC cutting ties with their Russian member firms.

Other big ESG/S news this month: The SEC’s long awaited vote to propose regulations that would require public traded companies to report their greenhouse gas emission and how climate change exposure is impacting their business. We expect these mandatory disclosure rules for public companies to further accelerator the ESG/S transformation for all businesses. Much more on this to come!

Separately, I’m pleased to announce the spring launch of our new ESG/S executive coaching program! Below is more detail and spread the word!

As always, we love your feedback! Please reach out anytime with ways we can collaborate and/or serve you better!

Yours,

Jennifer Faust

LEARNING

What is International Women’s Day? Why was it formed and what does it celebrate?

International Women’s Day (www.internationalwomensday.com) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. Marked annually on March 8, International Women’s Day (IWD) is one of the most important days of the year to:

  • celebrate women’s achievements
  • raise awareness about women’s equality
  • lobby for accelerated gender parity
  • fundraise for female-focused charities

Beyond every March 8, let’s continue to celebrate women’s achievements and rally for women’s equality!
